DADA PARTY
Every once in a while we receive an event proposal that is so exciting and so completely AZB that producing it is a total dream – this event was exactly that. The brief was to create an art focused, Dada inspired, mind blowing, visually incredible, sensory overwhelming, incredibly chic and surreal birthday party full of fun and surprise in a private home in that is affectionately known as ‘The Guggenheim’.Staying true to the ethos of Dadaism with a nod to the absurd and filled with whimsy and nonsense this party truly had it all – guests who really understood the assignment and ‘Dressed like Dada’, incredible performance artists (Justin Shoulder’s ‘Sissy Selkies’ was truly hypnotising) caviar bumps, live Japanese calligraphy, Wendy Yu ceiling projections, sequinned galahs, high heeled crocodiles fighting through the foliage and dancing lips (how good are The Huxleys!), a Marcel Duchamp inspired urinal ice luge (frozen passionfruit and tequila shots – yes please!), an opera singer belting out Debbie Harry, a visually confronting room of black and white Dada images lit completely in red, a leather laundry care of Christian Lomas, an underground maze filled with smoke and UV complete with its own priest taking confession in the centre, incredible DJ’s, magnificent speeches, canapés served on artist palates, negroni icy poles and a whole lot of irreverent fun.
We worked closely with Susan Armstrong, Arts Matter Co-Founder with the procurement of all the performances. Such a blast! It was a party that was as avant garde as it was fabulous.
